INTERNATIONAL VISITORS TO THE CERAMICS WORKSHOP

Laufen puts the spotlight on ceramics
The workshop was all about ceramics, eternally young materials and key aspects of bathrooms and WCs. Laufen Bathrooms invited designers, bathroom planners and journalists from thirteen countries to the Laufen Forum to discuss the material. Not just the current situation and future of the material were discussed, but its practical applications explored in depth too. Workshop attendees, aprons in place, tested their own skills in producing bathroom ceramics.

The company invited the two designers, Roberto Palomba (Palomba Serafini PSA, Milan) and Andreas Dimitriadis (Platinum Design, Stuttgart) as well as the design and art historian, Klaus Leuschel (Zurich) to take the podium.

OPEN DAY

On 12 September, over 1,200 visitors took advantage of the open day to look at the LAUFEN brand and visit the new LAUFEN Forum. The visitors from Laufen and the surrounding area took a guided tour to find out more about LAUFEN’s work, service and products. The tour led through the new LAUFEN Forum, the new training centre and the factory. The new exhibition in the LAUFEN Forum attracted a lot of attention and enthralled the visitors. The LAUFEN team was on hand to respond in detail to all the many questions asked.

The Keramik Laufen male choir ensured a pleasant ambience, showing they really knew how to make best use of the excellent acoustics in the LAUFEN Forum. The social committee at the Laufen volleyball club provided refreshments, which everyone happily tucked into. A balloon competition for visitors of all ages was a popular feature, with prizes such as rucksacks, sport bags and even an iPod to be won.

OFFICIAL HANDING-OVER OF THE KEY

LAUFEN celebrates the opening of its new Forum. Councillor Peter Zwick and Municipal President Brigitte Bos, as well as architect Daniel Wentzlaff, CEO of the ROCA Group JosĂ©-Miguel Roca and Luis SabanĂ©s, Senior Managing Director of Laufen Bathrooms AG all attended. Klaus Schneider, CEO of Keramik Laufen AG and Similor AG, compered the evening.

Around 150 guests came to the opening in Laufen on 10 September. The party was held in the new LAUFEN Forum and a warehouse that had been converted into an event hall. The theme of the evening was “heartbeat” – the pulse of Swiss bathroom industry – with percussion, hammered dulcimer and flamenco rhythms providing the perfect musical backdrop.

The pictures show the official part of the event, with the handing-over of the key by architect Daniel Wentzlaff to José-Miguel Roca and then to its new keeper Klaus Schneider.
